Greater Cincinnati Success Stories
Mt. Healthy
The State of Ohio, Hamilton County, Mt. Healthy City Schools, UniCity, and the City of Mt. Healthy partnered to deliver fiber-enabled, high-speed public Wi-Fi to the following apartment complexes: Clovernook Apartments, Compton Lake, Burney View, and Lake of the Woods. In total this represents 828 apartment units that will have access to the public Wi-Fi. Additionally, high-speed public Wi-Fi is now available in Mt. Healthy City Park and the Central Business District of Mt. Healthy along Hamilton Avenue and along Compton Road.
Greene County
Greene County, Ohio approved a partnership with altafiber that will result in the development of a fiber network, capable of providing gigabit Internet speeds to approximately 40,000 addresses in the county. Access to reliable high-speed Internet is essential for residents and businesses to address work-from-home, virtual learning, and telehealth activities. Under terms of the partnership, Greene County’s investment of $9.6 million, along with $55 million from altafiber, which will bring fiber to 9,600 underserved addresses.
Cincinnati Metro Housing Authority
Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, in conjunction with its HUD-sponsored Connect Home Initiative, partners with altafiber to provide a foundation to decrease the digital divide. This partnership will deliver high-speed Internet and free public Wi-Fi to over 1,200 family members in six CMHA properties, Marianna Terrace, Ralph Street, Setty Kuhn, Beacon Glen, Horizon Hills, and Millvale.
Springfield Township
Springfield Township in partnership with altafiber is bringing free public Wi-Fi to Springfield Township’s ArtsConnect Center and the Grove Event Center. The solution provides the visitors a secure internet connection and expands the capacity for larger-scale business meetings and classes with fast and reliable internet service.
Montgomery
City of Montgomery and altafiber’s UniCity team installed a Smart City solution with Wi-Fi coverage that covers the majority of Montgomery Road between Main Street and Taulman Alley. The ability to offer free public Wi-Fi in downtown Montgomery is one tool to encourage people to shop and dine in the community.
Cheviot
In partnership with Cheviot, altafiber’s UniCity team has installed free public Wi-Fi coverage for residents and visitors covering Harvest Home Park and Municipal Swimming Pool, Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse, and in the Central Business District. This Wi-Fi accessibility can help promote the businesses and get input into ways to better serve the public.

Partnering with communities to enable growth, development and innovation by investing in Wi-Fi infrastructure to provide free high-speed in major public areas like Washington Park, The Banks, Findlay Market, Fountain Square, Aronoff and more.
Butler Rural Electric Cooperative
altafiber and Butler Rural Electric Cooperative have announced a new partnership through which altafiber will expand its fiber network and begin delivering high-speed Fioptics Internet to parts of Butler Rural Electric Cooperative’s electric service territory this year.
The Lockland School District and Village of Lockland
The Lockland School District and Village of Lockland paired up to address digital equity in their community. By analyzing student data, UniCity, Lockland School District, and Village of Lockland created a strategy to introduce high-speed intelligent Wi-Fi to both subsidized housing complexes as well as outdoor public spaces surrounding the schools and throughout the neighborhoods.
The Greater Cincinnati Foundation
altafiber also created a fund through The Greater Cincinnati Foundation that ultimately raised more than $80,000 from our employees and members of the public to help support public schools that provided meals to students.
4000 Wi-Fi Access Points at Local Schools
altafiber delivers managed Wi-Fi at all Cincinnati Public Schools’ locations via 4,000 Access Points to provide high-speed student and staff connectivity. Also provided 35,000 students devices and upgraded 2500 administration & faculty devices to work virtually in partnership with HP Inc.
Connect Our Students
“Connect Our Students,” has delivered Internet to more than 4,000 families. altafiber partnered with Greater Cincinnati Foundation and several other community organizations to provide free Internet to qualifying students at CPS, several NKY schools, and Catholic Inner City Schools.
Cincinnati Public Schools
altafiber in March donated $20,000 to Cincinnati Public Schools to help ensure that students and their families had access to healthy meals, educational materials, and hygiene kits when schools closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
CPS Students
altafiber supports CPS students through our partnership with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission. Many CPS students leverage CRC centers for learning in this hybrid environment, as well as studying outside of school hours. altafiber Bell currently offers high-speed Wi-Fi at 17 of 23 CRC centers, and will have the remaining centers online in the coming weeks via more than 125 Access Points.
Loveland
Loveland and altafiber installed a Smart City solution with Wi-Fi coverage covering the majority of Downtown Loveland from the Little Miami River to the East Loveland Nature Preserve. This economic development project will allow Loveland to connect with, engage, and inform visitors and residents; drive more activity and visits; and ultimately help the local business community thrive.
Wyoming
The City of Wyoming and altafiber brought free public Wi-Fi to Wyoming as part of a broader effort to ignite economic growth. The Wi-Fi coverage is installed in the central business district, the village green, and Crescent Park. Wyoming’s goal is to utilize the Smart City technology to better engage our visitors and residents by providing seamless event navigation, calendar updates, and more.
